Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

The scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) is a recognized type of scholarship under the Boyer Model. If you are interested in learning more about the Boyer Model, I recommend Boyer’s (2016) book, Scholarship Reconsidered.

I am grateful for the mentors I have at Pacific University who have guided me in the area of SOTL research. When I first got started, a group of us read Jessamyn Neuhaus’s (2019) book, Geeky Pedagogy: A Guide for Intellectuals, Introverts, and Nerds Who Want to Be Effective Teachers. This was an incredibly useful, entertaining, and validating read for me.

The primary areas of my SOTL scholarship include the following:

  1. Clinical Simulation Program
  2. Critical thinking framework, R.E.A.C.T, around AI use in CSD
  3. Dynamic assessment project
